Kit Lists
Whenever you are going away, it is always advisable to have a kit list or some sort of checklist to help you
ensure that you take everything you need, and don't forget anything.
This is especially true on any sort of camping trip. If you are camping at a large, established campsite there
will probably be a shop where you can purchase any items you have forgotten. At smaller campsites this may not be
possible, so a checklist could be essential.
Camping Checklists
Here at Chas E. Smith we have a wealth of camping experience and have put together some basic checklists for
various types of camping trips.
Camping expeditions are part of the curriculum for many youth organisations, including scouts and guides, Duke of
Edinburgh Award Scheme, and Cadets.
Backpackers & Gap Year Travellers
For backpackers and global travellers like gap year students wishing to see a bit of the world, a check list of
essential items is also very important.
Here we have put together some kit lists for various types of expedition which we hope you will find useful.
These kit lists also show whether items are available from the Chas E. Smith website.
All of our lists are for guidance only, as this may depend on the organisation or group you are travelling with.
Some schools organising D. of E. Award expeditions will supply a tent, and for Cadets sleeping bags are sometimes
available, so you should always check with your group leader or organiser for a definitive list if possible.
If you are the organiser of an annual camping expedition and would like Chas E. Smith to have a kit list
available for participants, please let us know.
