Cadet Kit Lists
The Army Cadet Force (or ACF) is not part of the British Army, but it is sponsored by it. The RAF equivalent is the
Air Cadet Organisation (or ACO) and for the Royal Navy the Sea Cadet Corps (or SCC).
They are all voluntary youth organisations aimed at young people aged between 10 and 18 (this varies from
organisation to organisation). They are all very similar to the Scout movement, but with more of a military theme.
The type of military activities will depend on which cadet force you join.
Life Skills
The aim of these organisations is to help you develop into a well rounded, self confident member of society by
providing challenging and adventurous activities and skills that will help you in everyday life. You do not have to
join the Regular Forces when you leave - they are not recruitment agencies.
With all of them the curriculum will include weekend camping trips and perhaps a 1 or 2 week stay at a military
base. It is very important to ensure you take everything you need on these trips, especially summer camp, and a kit
list will help here.
