Festival Camping and Tents
At a time where Music Festivals are at their most popular (with the largest Greenfield music festival
Glastonbury selling out 170,000 tickets within 2 hours in 2007) and the number of attendees increasing every
year, it's important to be well prepared.
As tempting as it is to take as many home comforts as possible, it is important to travel light, and keep
valuables at a minimum. At some of the larger festivals you can often find yourself walking several miles before
finding a suitable pitch, so keeping the weight and number of possessions down is essential.
Budget Tents
As your tent will be your home for a few days, you should make sure it suits your needs and provides sufficient
shelter both from the rain and from the sun. However, there is a high risk of damage to your tent so it is probably
a good idea to choose a good quality budget tent, and there are many on the market to choose from.
With so many people settling in a relatively small area, it's near impossible to secure your tent, so you should
only bring items which are expendable. It's a good idea to get to know your neighbours, the more eyes looking out
for suspicious activity the better.
Suitable Clothing
You should only bring clothes you know you will wear, but it is a good idea to include some warmer clothes in
case the weather gets cold. And anyone who has been to Glastonbury over the last few years will know how important
wet weather clothing could be!
A torch will be your best friend at a Festival - trying to identify your tent amongst thousands of similar
tents, in pitch black, is not something you will want to tackle without help. Many people hang a flag (or an item
of underwear!) outside their tent to help them find it, and a remote control lantern can also help.
You should also have with you a small pack with some first aid equipment, sun cream and any vital medication.
Cooking Equipment
Many people will choose not to take any cooking equipment such as stoves or cook sets and instead take
advantage of the vast array of on-site catering. However you won't want to walk 2 miles to the nearest drinks
vendor for a cup of tea first thing in the morning. A lightweight cooking stove is more than sufficient for this
purpose.
Our range of Festival Packs will include some with small and lightweight cooking sets to provide some
basic catering.
