The Mikata Lock Knife, from Jack Pyke, is a 3 inch folding pocket knife with a leaf spring lock. It comes complete with a black nylon sheath and has a sheepsfoot blade. The mikata style handle also has a belt attachment clip.
One Handed Opening & Closing
The blade of the Gamekeeper has a stud on the left side to allow the user to open it one handed, although this is probably only convenient for a right handed person. It has a leaf spring liner in the handle to lock the blade in place when it is opened. Pushing the spring to one side allows you to close the knife, meaning that it can be closed one handed as well.
Sheepsfoot Blade
The knife has a 3 inch, sheepsfoot blade and has been made with high quality 440 stainless steel. The angular, sheepsfoot blade end gives good control, allowing the back edge to be held by the fingers. This shape used to be very popular with sailors as it prevented accidental penetration of a person or object if the ship suddenly lurched or rolled.
440 stainless steel one of the hardest stainless steels, and has a very high carbon content. It has better edge retention and can be used with a flint firestarter.
Complete with Sheath
The tough oxford nylon sheath included has a wide belt loop suitable for belts up to about 2.5 inches wide. There is also a belt clip on the handle of the knife for easy attachment to a belt or pocket.
The Jack Pyke Mikata Lock Knife has a great looking, mikata style handle, and is very good value for money. It would make a great birthday or Christmas present for anyone keen on the great outdoors.
