The Steel-of-Fire Fire Starting Kit, from Web-Tex, contains everything you need to easily start a fire while out in the field. A flint and steel firestarter to create the spark, and solid fuel and cotton wool to convert the spark into a flame, all contained in a small, handy, lightweight tin.
Cadet Model Firestarter
The kit contains the Cadet model Steel-of-Fire Firestarter, which should last about 3,000 strikes. The spark produced is at a temperature of about 3000ºc. Also included is a pack of 2 Steel-of-Fire Fuel Tablets. These are made of hexamine and are very highly combustible. All you need is a few shavings to produce a good flame. Just for good measure, 2 pieces of cotton wool are also included, kept in a waterproof bag.
Compact & Lightweight
The set comes in a very small and lightweight tin, finished in a mat, military green. The tin measures about 92 x 60 x 20 mm, and the kit weighs only 87 grams complete. The inside of the tin could be polished and used as a signalling mirror in emergencies.
With a flint and steel firestarter, hexamine fuel tablets and cotton wool, the Web-Tex Steel-of-Fire Fire Starting Kit has all you need to create a warming and morale boosting fire, and is ideal for use in an emergency survival situation. It will appeal to cadets and scouts who may not have tried this sort of firestarter before, and also many other outdoor enthusiasts.
